Los “Ahl al-Kitab” son conocidos como miembros de religiones divinas como el judaísmo y cristianismo (El Pueblo del Libro). El Pueblo del Libro es mencionado muchas veces en el Corán, por Ejemplo:
“There is a community among the People of the Book who are upright. They recite Allah’s Signs throughout the night, and they prostrate. They believe in Allah and the Last Day, and enjoin the right and forbid the wrong, and compete in doing good. They are among the righteous” (Al-Imran 3: 113-114)
“Among the people of the Book there are some who believe in Allah and in what has been sent down to you and what was sent down to them, and who are humble before Allah. They do not sell Allah’s Signs for a paltry price. Such people will have their reward with their Lord. And Allah is swift at reckoning.” (Al -Imran 3: 199)
“Those who believe, those who are Jews, and the Christians and Sabaeans, all who believe in Allah and the Last Day and act rightly, will have their reward with their Lord. They will feel no fear and will know no sorrow.” (Al-Baqara 2: 62)
“Those who believe and those who are Jews and the Sabaeans and the Christians, all who believe in Allah and the Last Day and act rightly will feel no fear and will know no sorrow.” (Al-Maida 5: 69)
“And dispute ye not with the People of the BookÙˆ except with means better (than mere disputation) unless it be with those of them who inflict wrong (and injury): but say ‘We believe in the Revelation which has come down to us and in that which came down to you; Our God and your God is one; and it is to Him we bow.'” (Al-Ankabut 29: 46)
“Comprobarás ciertamente que los judíos y los que asocian otros dioses a Dios son los
más encarnizados de los hombres en su enemistad contra los creyentes. Y encontrarás
seguramente que quienes dicen: “somos cristianos”, son los más cercanos de ellos en
amor a los creyentes. Esto es porque entre ellos hay sacerdotes y monjes y porque no
son orgullosos.” (Al-Maidah 5:82)
Concerning the People of the Book, the Qur’an commands Muslims to rally to a common formula, “O People of the Book! Let us rally to a common formula to be binding on both us and you: That we worship none but Allah; that we associate no partners with Him; that we erect not, from among ourselves, Lords and patrons other than Allah.” (Al-Imran 3: 64)
Ahl Al-Kitab cree:
- Que Alá creó todo el universo de la nada y que Él gobierna sobre toda la creación.
- Que Alá creó al hombre de una manera milagrosa del polvo de la tierra y sopló en su nariz el aliento de la vida, haciendo que se convirtiera en un alma viviente.
- Que además de Jesús y Moisés, Alá envió a muchos profetas como Noé, Abraham, Isaac y José a lo largo de la historia y Él los aman a todos estos profetas.
- En las señales de Alá.
- En los últimos días, en la resurrección, en el cielo, en el infierno y en los ángeles y que Alá ha creado nuestras vidas con un cierto destino que se revelará en el día del juicio final.
- En lo que es correcto, en prohibir lo que está mal y en competir en hacer el bien.
- Llevar una vida saludable absteniéndose de bebidas alcohólicas y comer alimentos ilegales como el cerdo.
El Pueblo del Libro enfatiza la importancia de los valores morales. Hoy en día, en un
mundo donde inmoralidades como el adulterio, la homosexualidad, la drogadicción, el
egoísmo se han generalizado, el Pueblo del Libro aboga por el honor, la castidad, la
humildad, el sacrificio personal, la honestidad, la compasión, la misericordia y el amor
incondicional.
